This Project examines the effect of organizational structure on job performance in United Bank for Africa (UBA). To achieve this, the survey research method was adopted. The researcher uses simple random sampling techniques wherein Yaro-Yamani formular was employed to ascertain the number of sample size estimated which is three hundred and forty (340); this is because the population is already large to reduce as we know that the purpose of sample size is to reduce the large number of population. Three research questions and hypotheses guided the study. The research used simple linear regression to test hypotheses one and two, while product moment correlation techniques for hypothesis three by the aid of SPSS V.20. Research findings showed that there is need to give orientation on the principles of organizational structure to the employees (see table 4.2:3),Organizational structure affects employee job satisfaction which ultimately impacts on productivity (see table 4.2:3),There is strong relationship between structural complexity and employee job performance (see table 4.2:5) and that Organizations need employees who are committed in their work so that they can contribute to the survival of the organization in the marketplace competition (see table 4.2:5). In view of these findings, the researcher recommended that every good organization should employ policy framework to ensure significant relationship between organizational structure and job design on employee performance in banking industry, more so the research recommends there is need to give employees orientation on the principles of organizational structure to the employees. This will reduce their resentment to directives, induced reform, communication failures and give them sense of belonging while at the long-run promoting operational efficiency The research also recommend that to ensure that organizational structure contributes maximally to job performance, workers should be trained in order to enable them effectively incorporate its tenets when developing business unit strategies.
