DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AN ONLINE EXAMINATION SYSTEM

Computers are well known for their wide range of uses especially in scientific and
mathematical fields but not much thought has been given to designing a complete and thorough online examination system on a computer system in this environment and because of this it now brings us to the need to design and implement an online
examination system for CALEB UNIVERSITY IMOTA. Currently online examination
system plays an important role in any higher institutions across the world because
presently a lot problems are associated with manual process of conducting examinations for students, but these problems can now be resolved by online examination system which will use Information and Communication Technology (ICT) features to enhance the way the whole examination process are been conducted and managed in the institution (college). The online examination system will be of great improvement to the college and as well as to the students because it will help students to offer an easy and quick way to appear for their test(assessment). It will also provide the results immediately after the examination with 100% accuracy and security. The research project is intended at assisting the examination board of for CALEB UNIVERSITY IMOTA to be able to arrange, conduct and manage examinations through an online environment that is much reliable, faster and durable than the manual(traditional) examination system. Some of the problems faced by manual(traditional) examination systems are delay in result processing, consuming time in creating question paper, time spent to verify the right and wrong answers also poses a great problem for the institution(college), and the probability of losing records is high and record searching is also quite slow and difficult as well. The main goal(aim) of this IX project is to design and implement an online      examination system that will provide an interface for student to sit for test and as well view their results almost immediately after the test. One of the renowned advantages of online examination system is that it provides an avenue for students to write their exam from far distance and the result of the examination will be displayed immediately at the end of the examination which goes a long way to diminish the fears of students, that they were marked down in the examination which is not the case with the manual examination system.
