This project covers A STUDY OF THE SOCIAL MEDIA COVERAGE ON THE COVID19 PANDEMIC IN NIGERIA. The fact that social media is known as a tool of havoc, chaos, miscommunication and misinformation as caused a lot of disbelieve for the information gotten from social media. But during the COVID-19 pandemic it was seen how the social media was used to disseminate information about the virus by various authorized organization that are used in passing information and its relevance during the pandemic. This work is to determine if the social mediadisseminated the wrong information, caused a lot of havoc during the pandemic, the effect and influence of the social media on the Nigerian citizens.
Questionnaires were administered during this research. From the results gotten majority of the respondents testified that the social media was effective and most of the information about covid-19 were known through it. From this research, it seen that the social media was more of an advantage than a disadvantage during the times of the covid-19 pandemic. The major aim of this study is to determine the purpose, role and influence of the social media on the COVID-19 in Nigeria and to enlighten the citizens about fake news and caution them on information they consume and spread to others.
